We're supporting a growing consultancy that delivers mission-critical data, technology, and digital transformation programmes across Defence, National Security, Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and wider Government.
Location Hybrid working, with a mix of home working, client-site engagement, and office collaboration as required. Typically 2β3 days per week on-site depending on project needs.
Security Clearance: SC clearance or higher preferred.
The role:
- As a Cyber Security Consultant / Security Architect, you'll help clients design, assess, and implement secure systems that protect critical information and services. Working across complex programmes, you'll provide security leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, from strategy and architecture through to assurance and operational deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement security strategies that align with organisational objectives, risk appetite, and UK Government Secure by Design principles.
- Assess business and security requirements and translate them into practical, proportionate security solutions.
- Perform threat modelling, security risk assessments, and security architecture reviews.
- Select, tailor, and implement appropriate security control frameworks and standards.
- Ensure security is embedded throughout solution design, development, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Define and review security assurance activities, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, validation, and design assurance.
- Develop secure architectures covering cloud, infrastructure, applications, identity, networks, and data.
- Support supplier and third-party security assessments, including software supply chain security and vendor due diligence.
- Apply Zero Trust and identity-led security principles across systems and services.
- Develop security policies, standards, guidelines, and architectural guardrails.
- Advise clients and stakeholders on balancing business objectives, technology delivery, and cyber risk.
Required Experience
- Practical experience in Cyber Security Architecture, Security Engineering, Security Consulting, Technical Assurance, or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of security risk management and security controls.
- Experience delivering security outcomes within complex client-facing environments.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following:
- Security Architecture
- Security Operations
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Infrastructure & Platform Security
- Application Security & DevSecOps
- Data Security & Privacy
- Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
- Experience embedding security into Agile, DevSecOps, and iterative delivery environments.
- Familiarity with security standards and frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and consulting skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) or currently holding active clearance.
