This role sits at the front line of the customer audit journey, supporting organisations through Cyber Essentials Plus audit preparation, remediation follow‑up, and post‑audit close‑out.

You will help customers understand what is required, guide them through common remediation actions, keep them on track against key deadlines, and ensure they are fully prepared for a successful audit outcome. This is a role for someone who combines strong attention to detail with sound judgement. You will be expected to manage a busy caseload, communicate clearly and confidently with customers, and think beyond the immediate query to understand what the customer needs in order to progress.

As our audit journey becomes more automated and self‑serve through product and process improvements, this role will be less focused on manual administration and more focused on proactive customer support, remediation guidance, and issue resolution.

For the right person, this role could also be a strong stepping‑stone into a future career as a Cyber Essentials Assessor or a broader audit‑focused role within CyberSmart.

Purpose of the Role
  • Support customers through the audit journey with a high standard of service, ownership, and accuracy.
  • Help customers take the right actions to become audit‑ready and avoid delays to certification.
  • Resolve queries confidently and effectively, reducing unnecessary escalations to auditors.
  • Drive timely follow‑up on remediation and post‑audit actions.
  • Improve the overall customer experience across audit support and operations.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Act as a main point of contact for customers throughout the Cyber Essentials Plus audit journey, providing clear, practical, and customer‑focused support.
  • Manage a personal caseload of audit customers, ensuring they stay on track, meet deadlines, and are fully prepared for audit.
  • Guide customers through audit readiness requirements, including evidence collection, technical prerequisites, and common remediation actions.
  • Proactively identify blockers, gaps, or risks to audit readiness, and take action to resolve or accelerate escalation quickly.
  • Support post‑audit follow‑up activities, including additional evidence requests, remediation tracking, and close‑out actions to help reduce time to certification.
  • Work closely with auditors, support teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure customers receive accurate guidance and a smooth audit experience.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy and case management, ensuring updates, communications, and follow‑up actions are completed with minimal rework.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by spotting recurring issues, improving internal processes, and helping evolve the audit support model as more of the journey becomes automated.
Skills And ExperienceMust Have
  • Excellent organisation and case management skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer cases at once.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence on phone and video calls.
  • A customer‑first mindset, with the ability to understand the wider context behind a query and guide customers towards the right outcome.
  • Good judgement and ownership, including the ability to prioritise effectively and handle escalations when needed.
  • Basic technical and compliance literacy, including familiarity with operating systems, patching, antivirus, MFA, MDM, and networking fundamentals.
  • Confidence supporting customers with structured remediation actions and evidence gathering.
  • Experience using CRM, case management, or ticketing systems, ideally Salesforce.
  • A calm, reliable, and accountable approach in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and comfort working in an evolving function.
Nice To Have
  • Working knowledge of Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in a cybersecurity, compliance, MSP, or SME‑facing environment.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus or Qualys.
  • Experience supporting customers with technical remediation or audit preparation.
  • An interest in progressing towards a Cyber Essentials Assessor or audit‑related career path.
  • Existing Cyber Essentials Assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards one.

This role offers a strong foundation for someone looking to build a career in cybersecurity compliance or auditing. The successful candidate will gain hands‑on exposure to the Cyber Essentials Plus audit lifecycle, customer remediation patterns, and audit readiness standards.
