The Deputy Financial Controller plays a leadership role within the finance function, overseeing day-to-day operations while ensuring robust financial governance across a fast‑growing cyber security business. This role drives accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial processes—leveraging AI and automation to enhance data quality, reduce manual effort, and support strategic decision‑making. As a key partner to the Financial Controller and wider leadership team, you will contribute directly to the scalability of the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Financial Operations & Control: Develop and implement financial policies and controls to ensure compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 15 and 16), UK GAAP, and internal governance requirements. Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate completion with all supporting schedules and system‑generated evidence. Drive continuous improvement of financial processes using AI‑enabled automation, workflow optimisation, and predictive analytics.
  • Reporting & Insight: Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership, with clear commentary and actionable insights. Produce financial analysis to support strategic planning, revenue forecasting, cyber security product performance reviews, and channel partner development. Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of reporting through advanced use of NetSuite (saved searches, workflows, automated journals, and dashboards).
  • Cash, Treasury & Risk: Monitor cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities – identifying opportunities to improve liquidity and reduce financial risk. Support FX management, banking relationships, and investment assessments relevant to the cyber security sector.
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate external audits and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality audit packs and reconciliations. Maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor two direct reports, embedding best practice, data accuracy, and operational excellence. Communicate complex financial information to non‑finance colleagues, helping drive commercial decision‑making across sales, operations, and product teams. Champion a culture of digital finance excellence through the adoption of AI‑assisted tools and automation across the team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with 5+ years relevant post‑qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS (including IFRS 15 and 16), UK GAAP, group consolidation, and financial controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in NetSuite and Excel, including modelling, automation, and dashboarding.
  • Experience leveraging AI‑powered finance tools (e.g., automated reconciliations, anomaly detection, forecasting models).
  • A data‑driven mindset with strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring or managing team members.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data for non‑finance stakeholders.
