We’re looking for a Systems Infrastructure & Data Centre Manager…

IT Services operates at the core of the Council’s operations, working with services and stakeholders to empower employees to deliver the Council priorities through technology.

We have invested significantly in the IT Strategy to support the council’s ambitions, focusing on Service, Value, Security, and Agility.

We manage Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID to oversee the Gateshead domain, ensuring over 4600 users have secure access to applications, files, and folders.

Our infrastructure includes over 400 servers with a corporate backup solution, and systems such as VMware, Citrix, Azure, and Microsoft 365.

We seek a talented and committed Systems Infrastructure and Data Centre Manager to lead our team in designing, implementing, developing, and supporting the Council’s IT systems and core infrastructure, including data centres, servers, storage, and systems software.

In this role, you will:

  1. Promote best practices, adhere to standards, and ensure high-quality, customer-focused service delivery aligned with Council strategies, policies, and procedures.
  2. Possess good working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Server OS, Storage Area Networks, Azure Cloud, Microsoft 365, VMware, Virtual Desktops, and both on-premise and cloud backup solutions.
  3. Continuously evolve the Cloud, Data Centre, Infrastructure, and Shared Platforms securely and systematically.
  4. Collaborate with the IT Senior Management Team to improve service delivery through effective leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  5. Contribute to the preparation and implementation of IT budgets, strategies, standards, and project plans, including business cases and benefits realization.
  6. Lead and develop teams, empower employees, organize resources effectively, and negotiate with third-party suppliers to ensure high performance.
  7. Measure performance, analyze trends, and identify efficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
