We’re looking for an Information Security Manager to join our Information Security Team for up to 24 months. Ensuring our technology and data remains secure is of utmost importance to us, and the Information Security Team supports this aim through ensuring that the RNLI’s information systems and data assets are accurately risk assessed and sufficiently protected from any compromise arising from failures of confidentiality, integrity or availability.

About the role

The Information Security Manager is responsible for the effective day‑to‑day operation of the RNLI’s Information Security function, ensuring the protection, detection and response capabilities that safeguard the Institution’s information systems, assets and data. This role focuses on the delivery and continual improvement of Information Security operations, ensuring that risks and incidents are managed promptly, professionally and in line with RNLI policies and standards. You will work alongside members of the Information Security team to deliver tactical assurance activities, real‑time threat monitoring, incident triage and response. You will also be responsible for line management of the team, ensuring they remain skilled, responsive and aligned to emerging threats, enabling the RNLI to maintain a strong, resilient operational security posture.

About you

As an articulate and persuasive leader, you’re able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers and third-party providers and can communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff. You must also be committed to deliver on team tasks as well as conducting responsibilities that go with running a team. The successful candidate will have significant experience in a similar role as an Information Security authority at a senior level, strategic level business/IT planning experience and be capable of distilling and then delivering strategic initiatives. With appropriate experience in a broad range of IT disciplines, our ideal candidate will also have recognised security qualification e.g. (ISC)2 CISSP, ISACA CISM or CISA. We are looking for someone with a strong working knowledge of Data Protection (GDPR and DPA 2018) and PCI DSS as well as common security and technology frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST and TOGAF. You also have proven experience of having managed teams and complex technical environments with an ability to demonstrate good governance and compliance experience across on-prem and cloud technologies. This role will appeal to someone who enjoys getting stuck into work the team is required to deliver as well as nurturing and inspiring collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels, using your strong interpersonal skills, participative leadership style, and pragmatic approach and facilitation skills to garner consensus between them.
