Purpose of the role

Accountable for the delivery of a programme, a portfolio of projects, or a significant project for leading airline clients and their operating companies, as well as Change Management deliverables.

Accountabilities

  • Shapes, scopes, structures, plans and delivers a business change programme or a number of projects, responsible for driving, co‑ordinating and delivering the plans to meet the business objectives, internal control needs and budgets.
  • Determines, establishes and manages appropriate and effective governance structures for the portfolio or programme, clickstreams and projects that are effective at all levels and align with key departmental / corporate governance structures.
  • Ensures appropriate involvement and commitment from stakeholders through successful management of expectations and clear communication at all levels.
  • Manages robust processes for risks, issues and dependencies and change control.
  • Identifies resource requirements to ensure successful delivery of the programme or projects, working closely with Head of Programme Delivery.
  • Ensures projects within the programme or portfolio are managed and regularly reviewed.
  • Provides project, programme or portfolio updates to the agreed schedule, process and standards and ensures effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Challenges the focus of the programme or portfolio and its projects to meet targets and escalates any shortfalls to the Head of Programme Delivery.
  • Builds and develops business cases for projects with the finance team.
  • Ensures robust plans in place for realisation of benefits.
  • Manages and leads cross‑functional project teams without line management accountability.
  • Owns all portfolio and programme administration and documentation, including programme plans.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Professional Project Management accreditation desirable, e.g. Prince2/APMP (Association of Project Management Professionals), Agile.

  • Ability to manage complex programmes and projects in a fast‑paced global environment, with finite resources and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to translate high‑level business objectives into programme structures, project deliverables and plans, ensuring alignment to business plan goals.
  • Challenges focus on projects/programmes to meet targets and initiate extra activities wherever gaps are identified.
  • Demonstrates excellent planning, organisation and forecasting skills and experience of managing multiple projects / programmes and prioritises to meet objectives.

  • Brings together cross‑functional groups, leads discussions and achieves outcomes through a structured approach, effective workshop facilitation and collaboration.
  • Good business acumen and commercial awareness which enables consideration of the wider impact and dependencies of projects and pre‑empts issues.

Experience

  • Project Management experience is demonstrated by a significant track record of managing business change/transformation programmes and projects from scoping to implementation, delivering benefits through project leadership in complex or challenging environments, impacting stakeholders across different business areas.
  • Experience of project managing business transformation and change projects with significant IT deliverables.
  • Experience of full project / programme accountability and experience of working at a senior level.
  • Experience of working and delivering under pressure, on complex projects working within a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience of leading cross‑functional virtual project teams.
  • Experience of managing 3rd party suppliers.
  • Experience with outsourcing / insourcing projects desirable.

Other requirements

  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Spanish language desirable.
  • Requirement to work from the office 3 days a week or more depending on project and stakeholder requirements.
  • Willingness to some duty travel if a project requires this, likely limited to Barcelona, Madrid and Dublin.
