We are partnering with a market‑leading organisation operating within the technology training, digital skills and workforce transformation sector who are investing heavily in its data platform and cloud technology capabilities. As part of this continued investment, the business is looking to appoint a Senior Data Engineer to join its expanding Data team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to combine hands‑on technical delivery with team leadership responsibilities, helping to shape the future of a modern Azure‑based data platform.

Working closely with stakeholders across technology and the wider business, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing data pipelines, data warehouse solutions and reporting environments while best practices are maintained. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers, managing deployments and driving continuous improvement across the data estate. This role would suit a Senior Data Engineer with strong Azure, Fabric and SQL expertise who enjoys leading technical initiatives, improving data platforms and supporting the development of high‑performing engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a small team of Data Engineers, promoting best practice and engineering excellence
  • Design, build and support Azure Data Pipelines and Data Flows
  • Develop and expand enterprise data warehouse solutions, integrating new data sources and datasets
  • Create, maintain and optimise complex SQL stored procedures, views and functions
  • Improve the performance and structure of data warehouse and reporting environments
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and development standards

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Advanced SQL Server development experience
  • Expert knowledge of T‑SQL including stored procedures, views and functions
  • Experience designing, building and supporting enterprise data warehouse solutions
  • Experience developing and supporting Azure‑based data integration solutions
  • Previous team leadership or people management experience
