I'm currently working on an opportunity for a Manager level Platform Engineer to join a Technology & Transformation team, focused on delivering large-scale cloud and data platform solutions across complex enterprise environments. This role sits within AI & Data Solutions and is focused on leading the design, build, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native platforms that enable data-driven transformation across a range of clients.
Responsibilities
- Leading the design, development, and delivery of cloud-based platforms and data pipelines
- Overseeing end-to-end software delivery across architecture, build, deploy, and operations
- Providing technical leadership and direction within cross-functional engineering teams
- Driving CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code best practices across programmes
- Supporting production systems, resolving complex issues, and ensuring platform reliability
- Engaging with stakeholders and translating business requirements into technical solutions
- Mentoring and guiding engineers while contributing to the wider engineering community
Qualifications
- Strong experience designing and delivering platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Deep knowledge of GCP services (GKE, Compute Engine, IAM, VPC, Cloud Storage, etc.)
- Strong background in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar tools)
- CI/CD pipeline design and automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build, etc.)
- Strong scripting ability (Python, Bash, or Go)
- Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, GKE)
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and identity management
- Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GCP Operations Suite)

Location: Manchester or Newcastle (hybrid working). Salary: up to £65,000.
