Hays are now looking for a Platform Engineer on a 12 month contract. The role is focused on engineering, database development, automation, integration, DevOps, and platform development.

Join a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering critical cyber and infrastructure solutions across the organisation. You'll play a key role in designing, developing and automating scalable platforms, working across databases, APIs, integration technologies and DevOps tooling to enhance and support enterprise-level services.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing, developing and enhancing enterprise applications and platform solutions using C# and .NET technologies.
- Building and supporting RESTful APIs, integrations and automation capabilities using PowerShell and JSON-based interfaces.
- Developing and optimising SQL Server-based solutions, with exposure to MongoDB beneficial.
- Implementing and supporting event-driven integrations using Kafka.
- Automating deployment and operational processes using Ansible, Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
- Collaborating with engineers, architects and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and resilient solutions.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring adherence to governance, security and change control standards.
- Leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong commercial experience developing solutions with C# and Web APIs.
- Proven expertise with SQL Server and database-driven application development.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting, automation and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of Kafka, Ansible and modern CI/CD toolchains.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms and coding standards.
