Hays are now looking for a Platform Engineer on a 12 month contract. The role is focused on engineering, database development, automation, integration, DevOps, and platform development.

£430 p/d Inside IR35 - 12 Months

2 days p/w in the office, 3 days WFH

Location is Manchester

Must have C#, MS SQL, PowerShell, API's, Kafka

Join a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering critical cyber and infrastructure solutions across the organisation. You'll play a key role in designing, developing and automating scalable platforms, working across databases, APIs, integration technologies and DevOps tooling to enhance and support enterprise-level services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing, developing and enhancing enterprise applications and platform solutions using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Building and supporting RESTful APIs, integrations and automation capabilities using PowerShell and JSON-based interfaces.
  • Developing and optimising SQL Server-based solutions, with exposure to MongoDB beneficial.
  • Implementing and supporting event-driven integrations using Kafka.
  • Automating deployment and operational processes using Ansible, Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Collaborating with engineers, architects and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and resilient solutions.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring adherence to governance, security and change control standards.
  • Leveraging AI‑assisted development tools to improve engineering efficiency and delivery.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong commercial experience developing solutions with C# and Web APIs.
  • Proven expertise with SQL Server and database-driven application development.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, automation and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of Kafka, Ansible and modern CI/CD toolchains.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and software development lifecycle best practices.
  • Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms and coding standards.
