Your new company Hays Recruitment is partnering with Leicestershire County Council to fill the role of Senior Technical Specialist – Desktop, a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

Your new role As the Subject Matter Expert, you will own and be responsible for the maintenance, support, development and consultancy of specific technology stacks within the Desktop infrastructure, ensuring that IT system services remain stable, reliable and resilient in a cost‑effective manner. You will mentor and guide technical specialists and other technical staff, and coordinate small teams of technicians to deliver new services and service improvements. The role involves both BAU and project work.

Required technical knowledge includes:

  • Windows 11
  • Windows Server
  • Intune
  • BitLocker
  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Multi‑factor authentication
  • Enterprise printer support

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Desktop Management Administration (Corporate & Libraries)
  • Endpoint Protection (EPP)
  • Physical / Virtual Desktop Management including AVD & RDS
  • Microsoft Group Policy
  • System Monitoring & Management
  • Printing Management & Administration
  • Security & Feature Patch Management
  • Disaster Recovery
  • Windows Server Administration

Sponsorship is not available for this role. There will be occasional out‑of‑hours requirements for planned works or major incidents, therefore you must be within an hour of the location and have your own transport.
