Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office per week.

Hays recruitment have partnered with Leicestershire County Council on the recruitment for a Cyber Security Officer / Information Security Analyst position, which will see you involved in all areas of Governance, Risk and Compliance, for the council alongside their wider cyber security team and Managed Service Security Provider.

This is an ideal role for someone who is either looking to cut their teeth in cyber and information security, getting to grips with various security frameworks and best practice, or for an experienced information security analyst looking to help shape an information security strategy.

Your new role will involve:

  • Supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of security controls across the Council's IT infrastructure and business systems.
  • Assisting in the identification of security risks associated with proposed changes whilst ensuring operational, strategic and business needs are met.
  • Championing a culture of cyber security awareness and best practice across all departments within the Council.
  • Assisting with the implementation and enhancement of the security strategy.
  • Contributing to the continued upkeep of security certifications in alignment with frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and the Public Services Network.
  • Working with all areas of the business and building relationships with colleagues to gain a better understanding of wider business functions, their security requirements, and how best to coach employees on security principles that are applicable to their operational needs.
  • Working with third party providers on security audits and reviews.
  • Managing risk registers and running bowtie risk analyses.
  • Supporting on the review and continual improvement of cyber security policies.
  • Assisting with security initiatives and implementations.
  • Maintaining a contemporary knowledge of current threats and cyber trends.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Experience as an information security analyst within the public or private sector would be ideal.
  • An understanding of a few cyber and information security best practice frameworks, standards and certifications such as NIST, ISO27001, (ideally PSN, Cyber Essentials and CAF).
  • A good information security (IT audit, governance, risk and compliance) background.
  • Experience working with 3rd party suppliers and MSSPs on the enhancement of organisational security.
  • Experience of managing risk registers.
  • A background in IT, be it: infrastructure, networks, software or cyber security, is essential for this role.
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive and solution focused mindset.
  • Experience providing security advice over a variety of projects.
  • Strong Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) knowledge, understanding and skillset.
