A well‑established organisation is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join its technology team, supporting and developing a modern Microsoft cloud and hybrid environment. The IT function delivers secure, resilient and high‑performing services that underpin core operational and user‑facing systems. This is a hands‑on technical role with a strong focus on Azure, Microsoft 365 and identity platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and support Microsoft Azure infrastructure and related cloud services
- Develop cloud and hybrid architecture, ensuring secure, available and scalable systems
- Administrate and optimise Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and Entra ID
- Own modern endpoint management through Microsoft Intune, including Autopilot, compliance policies and device configuration
- Support hybrid identity across Active Directory and Entra ID, applying Conditional Access and Zero Trust principles
- Participate in cloud migration and service modernisation initiatives
- Patch, remediate vulnerabilities, manage Microsoft Defender tooling and investigate security incidents
- Support backup, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, monitor platform performance, manage certificates and domains
- Collaborate with third‑party suppliers, produce technical documentation, contribute to infrastructure standards and policies, provide senior level support for complex issues
Qualifications
- Strong hands‑on experience designing and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including IaaS, networking, security and monitoring
- Excellent knowledge of identity and access management using Active Directory and Entra ID
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and managing modern endpoints through Intune
- Solid understanding of security best practices (Conditional Access, Zero Trust, Microsoft Defender)
- Experience operating in hybrid environments and knowledge of backup, recovery and DR processes
- Core networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, firewalls and secure connectivity
- PowerShell or automation skills; experience supporting high availability and performance optimisation in cloud platforms
- Strong communication skills; experience at second or third line support level within an enterprise environment
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ‑104 or AZ‑500 are beneficial; exposure to cloud migration programmes, infrastructure modernisation and security or compliance frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials)
