Functional Consultant - Microsoft Dynamics 365 & Power Platform

Role Overview

You will play a key role in delivering successful digital transformation initiatives by ensuring business and technology solutions are implemented effectively, on time, and within budget.

A core focus of the role is driving user adoption and enabling organisations to realise value from modern CRM and low-code platforms.

Working within a specialist cloud and enterprise applications team, you will help deliver innovative solutions built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Azure-based services.

You will collaborate closely with technical architects, developers, and business stakeholders to configure, customise, and extend Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement solutions to meet complex client requirements.

You will also support continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and recommending enhancements across the solution lifecycle.

Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years' experience working in Microsoft Dynamics 365 / Power Platform environments in a consulting or functional role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE, including configuration and solution design.
  • Certified in Microsoft technologies (e. g., Dynamics 365 and Power Platform certifications preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a focus on delivering business value and ROI.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate requirements gathering workshops with stakeholders to capture, analyse, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process documentation.
  • Advise clients on best practice approaches for business process improvement and CRM optimisation.
  • Act as a key functional point of contact across the solution lifecycle, including design, build alignment, testing, training, and post-go-live support.
  • Configure and tailor Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE solutions to meet client-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams by clearly articulating functional and technical design requirements.
  • Support integration of Dynamics 365 with external systems using APIs and Microsoft Azure services.
  • Contribute to solution roadmaps and digital transformation strategies, promoting effective use of Microsoft technologies.
  • Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, functional designs, training materials, and user guides.
  • Deliver user training sessions and support knowledge transfer activities to ensure successful adoption.
  • Participate in testing phases, supporting defect resolution and ensuring solutions meet business expectations.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying enhancements and optimising system usage.
