The CORNERSTONE Photonics Innovation Centre (C-PIC) at the University of Southampton has a mission to create a pipeline of Silicon Photonics enabled companies serving multiple industry sectors by 2030.

The aim of the C-PIC team is to provide a Silicon Photonics fabrication service to researchers from across the globe, centred around unique cleanroom capabilities in Southampton, UK (www.cornerstone.sotonfab.co.uk). Our group has a culture centred around the team and is very supportive of one another and you will play a fundamental role in the success of the cutting-edge research that C-PIC supports.

Responsibilities

• Operate standardized qualification tests on cleanroom tools and prepare chemicals and processes housed within the world-class cleanroom facility.
• Support the CORNERSTONE nanofabrication team by managing consumable stock.
• Package and transfer Silicon Photonics devices out of the cleanroom and ship them to C-PIC users, as well as internal research and enterprise partners.
• Learn from researchers and gain transferable skills in photonics device fabrication, cleanroom operations and administration.
• Receive full training and have opportunities to attend seminars and workshops to deepen knowledge; a financial training allowance is available to support personal and professional development including areas such as EDI, innovation, and digitisation.
• Work 35 hours per week with some flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory environment with proven ability to plan and progress work activities.
• Experience in administration is essential.
• A degree in a science-related subject or equivalent industry experience is required.
