UK - Operations Director, Cybastion UK

Full-Time No working from home possible
C

At Cybastion, we build digital infrastructure that governments depend on, across eleven countries and counting. High bar, no room for failure — and a company still being built, which you help shape. International complexity, visible impact, real ownership. Benefits vary by country and are detailed during the recruitment process.

The Operations Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring all projects managed by Cybastion UK, particularly those financed, guaranteed, or supported by Export Credit Agencies (ECAs). The role ensures successful project delivery in line with contractual commitments, budgets, timelines, and donor requirements, serving as the primary operational interface between Cybastion UK, clients, funding institutions, strategic partners, and the Group's executive leadership.

What this role is, and isn't.

This is not a purely administrative project coordination role. The Operations Director owns full delivery accountability across ECA-funded, government, and technical contracts — compliance gaps or delivery failures here affect Cybastion's standing with donor institutions and government counterparts, not just individual projects. The right person moves comfortably between hands‑on procurement and logistics work and executive‑level reporting to the Group COO, CSO, and CEO.

What you will build

  • Lead and oversee operational execution of all projects managed by Cybastion UK, monitoring schedules, budgets, resources, milestones, and deliverables, and organize operational review and performance meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations toward clients, partners, and funding institutions, and identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with Export Credit Agency (ECA) requirements, policies, and reporting obligations, and support audits, compliance reviews, and external evaluations related to ECA‑supported projects.
  • Manage local and international logistics — transportation, warehousing, shipping, customs clearance — and optimize logistics operations for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Lead procurement activities associated with project implementation, including supplier sourcing, evaluation, and contracting, and negotiate commercial terms where necessary.
  • Work closely with the Group's Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Compliance, and Procurement teams to ensure adherence to corporate policies and governance standards.
  • Provide regular operational reporting and KPIs to Cybastion UK leadership and the Group COO, CSO, and CEO, and participate in steering committees and governance boards.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, International Development, or a related field, and brings 5+ years of experience in management, project delivery, or program management within an international environment, ideally in infrastructure, telecommunications, cybersecurity, digital transformation, or government technology. They have proven experience managing ECA‑financed or donor‑funded projects, strong procurement, logistics, and budget management expertise, and a solid understanding of compliance, governance, and risk management frameworks. Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, the ability to engage with senior executives, government officials, and donors, and fluency in English (French a strong advantage) round out the profile.

Non‑negotiable cultural fit:

The Operations Director is Cybastion UK's operational backbone, ensuring every ECA‑financed project is delivered on time, on budget, and to donor and client standards. This person combines hands‑on discipline in delivery, procurement, and logistics with the credibility to represent Cybastion before donors, government counterparts, and Group leadership. Profiles comfortable only with strategy, or who struggle in a matrixed, multicultural group structure, will not succeed here.
