We are working with a high-quality boutique law firm who want to grow their employment practice with the addition of a further partner. The firm has an established reputation for mid-market employment work β acting for employers predominantly but also senior executives. Broadly 50:50 in terms of contentious and non-contentious instructions. The firm acts for several household names β long-standing clients of the firm.
Like most employment teams, this hire is to support, at a senior level, an increase in the pipeline of work brought about due to changes to employment legislation and the need to support loyal clients who are growing themselves and so generating more instructions. More strategically, it is also to sustain profitable growth and add strong lawyers, who are culturally aligned, to take the firm and department forward, in the right way.
The partners would consider either existing and established partners or senior lawyers who want to take their first move into partnership, provided they have the experience and confidence to make this step. And in any employment related speciality. Following/βa bookβ is not strictly necessary β there is plenty of work to go round - but you should have developed a network and some relationships that you can leverage over time.
If you are seeking a smaller firm culture and collegiality, and want to maintain the quality of clients, work and colleagues, this presents an excellent opportunity, and a soft landing given the existing pipeline and general busyness. There is plenty of flexibility, and an understanding that hybrid working can sometimes work best and a sensible, relaxed and grown-up culture.
