CY Partners is supporting a leading biopharmaceutical R&D organisation in the search for an Analytical Scientist to join its Molecular Design & Engineering (MDE) group within Large Molecule Research. This team plays a critical role in transforming early antibody discoveries into high-quality therapeutic candidates by applying molecular engineering and developability profiling.
The Role
This is a hands-on, lab-based position within the developability team, focused on the biophysical profiling and characterisation of antibody and protein-based therapeutics. You will generate, interpret, and communicate biophysical data that directly influences early-stage project decisions. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary discovery teams, contributing scientific insight that helps progress molecules toward candidate selection.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute biophysical experiments to characterise proteins
- Apply techniques such as SEC, DLS, DSF and related methods
- Analyse and interpret data to assess protein stability, quality, and developability
- Communicate results clearly to non-specialists within project teams
- Maintain high-quality electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs)
About You
- PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Hands-on experience with one or more biophysical techniques, including: Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Analytical Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF), Mass spectrometry or related methods
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Use of automated liquid handling systems
- Exposure to antibody drug discovery workflows
- Experience studying protein–protein interactions (e.g. Surface Plasmon Resonance)
Experience Level
PhD-level scientist or 2–3 years of equivalent industry experience
