Development Chemist – R&D
Location: London
Hours: Full time, Permanent (Mon – Fri)

About the Role:
My client are a leading manufacturer of specialist coatings for industries from industries from oil and gas, and petrochemical to renewable energy. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Development Chemist to join our clients R&D team. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and improvement of an innovative well established product range.
Key Responsibilities of the Development Chemist include:
- Conduct laboratory experiments and investigations into new product formulations, product optimisation, and competitor analysis.
- Analyse and interpret data, prepare reports, and present findings to the team using instruments like Rheometers, Extensometers.
- Support Production, Quality Control, and customer facing departments.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
- Contribute to a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
To be considered for the Development Chemist role, you will need the following skills and experience:
- BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
- Experience in a laboratory environment, prior knowledge of Corrosion protection and surface coatings would be advantageous.
- Experience with relevant industry standards (ASTM, ISO, NACE), would be advantageous.
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent spoken and written communication for writing reports.
