An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join an established organisation in Worcester on a part-time basis.
This is an ongoing assignment, working 3 days per week, with an expected start date in early September.
The successful candidate must have previous experience from within charity sector.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Management Accountant will take responsibility for the day-to-day financial accounting function, production of monthly management accounts and provision of financial support and guidance to budget holders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain monthly management accounts, including adjustments, accruals, prepayments, recharges and depreciation.
- Post payroll-related journals, including ER National Insurance and pension entries.
- Manage Gift Aid provisions and claims.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts, standing orders and direct debits.
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and manage petty cash.
- Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Revalue investments and prepare associated reporting.
- Support annual property and stock revaluations.
- Prepare financial statements, lead schedules and supporting information for the annual audit.
- Liaise with the payroll provider to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Provide financial advice and support to budget holders.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process, including the collation and review of departmental budgets.
- Provide financial information for grant applications and ongoing monitoring.
- Provide general financial support to the COO and wider Finance team, including ad hoc analysis and projects.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have
- A relevant accounting qualification such as AAT, or be qualified by experience.
- Strong management accounting and financial accounting experience.
- Experience of month-end processes, reconciliations and year-end preparation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of VAT returns; charity VAT experience would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Charity SORP and charity accounting would be highly desirable.
- Excellent IT and finance systems skills, with strong Excel capability.
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- The ability to work independently, manage deadlines and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Experience of Xledger or similar cloud-based finance systems would be advantageous.
