An NHS organisation is seeking an experienced Income Accountant to provide additional senior-level support within its finance team during a period of transition and change.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled NHS finance professional to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting into the senior finance leadership team, you will play a key role in overseeing income-related processes, ensuring the accuracy and robustness of income reporting, and supporting the organisation with month-end, contract management, and financial performance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on all aspects of NHS income accounting and reporting.
- Provide expert advice on complex income and contract matters.
- Support month-end and year-end financial processes relating to commissioning and provider income.
- Analyse and reconcile income streams, identifying variances and recommending corrective action where required.
- Work closely with operational and finance colleagues to ensure accurate income forecasting and reporting.
- Support the development and improvement of income-related financial controls and processes.
- Provide senior-level financial insight to inform decision-making and financial planning.
Essential Experience
- Significant NHS finance experience, ideally within a provider setting.
- Strong understanding of the NHS payment framework, contracting arrangements, and income flows.
- Proven experience in income accounting, financial management, and complex reconciliations.
- Ability to work autonomously and provide immediate value within an established finance team.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA) or equivalent relevant experience.

- Band: 8b/8c equivalent (dependent on experience).
- Duration: 3 months fixed-term contract.
- Location: Hybrid working with 2 days per week on site.
