Salary: £25,878 per annum pro rata

Location: East Sussex (Hybrid – office/home/field-based)

Contract: Part Time (0.8 FTE)

Reports to: Team Leader

Job Purpose:

  • To support the design and delivery of engaging 12 week youth programmes, in accessible community venues across East Sussex.
  • To support the delivery of one to one and group work creatively and effectively in a range of community settings with disengaged young people and supporting them to be ready to move into, and sustain employment, education, training, traineeships, or an apprenticeship.
  • To liaise with a wide range of employers, training providers and stakeholders to promote and offer workplace tasters, visits and other engagement opportunities to beneficiaries.
  • To provide bespoke and tailored mentoring to our beneficiaries and support referrals to CXK projects, assessments of need and skills and progress reviews and undertake ongoing tracking and support.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the Youth Coach in the delivery of appropriate information, advice, guidance, and mentoring to unemployed young people that enables development of their personal, social and employability skills.
  • Support the Youth Coach in the delivery of a 12 week face to face programme to young people, ensuring that participants are emotionally prepared to progress into education training or employment by improving confidence and attitudes towards learning, feedback and challenge.
  • To work creatively and in a person-centered way, in a group or one to one setting.
  • Support engagement with employers and other community opportunities and be confident working in detached and outreach settings.
  • Support advocacy for young people, working confidentially to support them and their families to address barriers to progression, making referrals as necessary.
  • Maintain a high awareness of safeguarding and safe working practice and be able to assess risk.
  • Support Youth Coach in setting SMART action / learning plans with beneficiaries, reviewing progress, and undertaking tracking and ongoing support as needed.
  • Support Youth Coach to ensure all relevant paperwork and records are completed to deadlines and in line with the requirements of the contract being worked on, this will be both paper-based and through a CRM system.
  • Support the Team Leader and Youth Coach to recruit young people onto the programme, maintaining positive links with referral organisations and other agencies that offer work and support including colleges, employers, and schools.
  • Support the design and review of a range of resources and interventions to support work readiness and development of life skills.
  • To work closely with all departments in CXK, in particular the Youth Employability Service and Connect to Work, to ensure beneficiaries get access to the services they need.
  • Be aware of the health, safety, and welfare of the people we work with during all aspects of the programme, encouraging safe working practices and raising people’s awareness of risk.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties that may be required from time to time. The duties may be changed and/or varied to meet changing circumstances at the discretion of Management.

All appointees will be subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
