Unit Controller in Christchurch

We are looking for a Unit Controller to join our Christchurch team! In this role, you will manage the financial planning and budgeting function of the organization and prepare financial analyses and forecasts. The position involves supervision over property accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary controls. You will coordinate, administer, and control financial operations for a business unit of approximately $100-125M annual revenue while mitigating financial risk to the Company. This includes providing tax, insurance, and other reports required by governmental regulations. You will review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports, direct all aspects of accounting operations, and oversee the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements. Additionally, you will select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Your Challenge: Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory or governmental requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as well as corporate policies and procedures. You must stay attuned to early warnings of financial problems and be able to provide suggestions on decisive action to resolve or address these problems. You will provide advice in developing objectives, strategies, and tactics from an accounting and financial perspective. Play an active role in the evaluation of business systems and develop proposals for upgrades. Measure performance against company goals, reveal obstacles to growth, and develop strategies for improvements. Consistently work with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Through assessment of intangible variables, identify and evaluate fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements and analyse results based on actual and forecast revenue/budget and provide reports with observation/recommendations to location management. Coordinate the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to guide the financial management of the business segment. Interface with departments to ensure accuracy of development program costs to date and estimates in support of revenue recognition. Review proposals and appropriation requests, analyse ledger and module transactions, prepare special reports, handle routine and special projects, manage elements of A/R and A/P transactional flow, actively participate in strategic planning processes, support shared services groups, and assist with payroll processing.

What You Bring: Experience in Accounting, tax, forecasting, and budgeting. Professional certifications that enhance credibility and expertise in accounting and finance - ACA/ACCA/CIMA. Managerial experience in a corporate setting.
