The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

You will provide a clinical service as a part of Care of the Elderly (COTE) Team, which will include the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. There is opportunity to develop your clinical skills with support from COTE Consultants. This post is fixed term for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job:

  • Work alongside and provide supervision and advice for Trainee Doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates.
  • Work with the extended Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Determine when offering advice is reasonable or when to review patients in person after they have been seen by other members of the clinical team.

The job is mainly based in Royal Glamorgan Hospital, which is an acute general hospital. The successful candidate will be one of the three registrar grade doctors (2 Speciality Registrars (St4-7) and one SAS doctor) responsible for looking after COTE patients in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The team is supervised by five Care of the Elderly Consultants. There will be opportunity to undertake outpatient clinics with support from Consultants.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge, personal skills and abilities: Good general medical knowledge, ability to work with various members of Multidisciplinary team, experience as a team leader, evidence of service planning and development.
  • Education/Qualifications and training: Basic medical training, MRCP/DGM ACLS certificate.
  • Experience: 4 years post graduate training (or equivalent gained on part-time/flexible basis), at least 2 of which are working at CMT level (or equivalent) in Medicine, previous training in Care of the Elderly Medicine.
  • Personality requirements: Ability to work well in a team.
  • Circumstances: Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
