Staff Nurse – Same Day Emergency Care

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and energetic professionals to join the SDEC team at Prince Charles Hospital. We are a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated team of highly motivated skilled professionals.
Same day emergency care (SDEC) is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients.
Under this care model patients presenting at hospital with relevant conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and treated without being admitted to a ward, and If clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day their care is provided.
If successful you will be required to work over a 7 day period, a mixture of nights and days, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
The Same day emergency care Unit is currently based within the Acute Medical Unit at Prince Charles Hospital.We are looking for Staff Nurses to join our team.
You must possess good interpersonal communication skills, and have the ability to function as part of the multidisciplinary team. Organisation, time management and delegation skills are integral to the role. You will be required to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and provide necessary treatment according to their care needs.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn\’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn\’t need to have skills in Welsh, we\’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn\’t \’fluency\’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.
