This post is a replacement of an existing post but with diverse roles and developmental opportunities to suit the applicant's interests. It provides middle grade cover to the general paediatric, PAU at RGH and to the outpatient clinics under the supervision of the consultants; and complements the existing middle grade posts in the department.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily ward rounds in the Children's Ward, RGH and report to the consultant in charge.
  • Participate in PAU cover.
  • Supervise junior medical team and act as a source of advice and support to nursing staff.
  • See patients in A+E at the request of paediatrics junior doctors and consultants.
  • Carry out safeguarding medical examinations when adequately trained.
  • Attend specialist clinics as per area of interest.
  • See new and follow-up general paediatric patients in clinics under the supervision of the consultant.
  • Participate in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the children's service.
  • Manage the acute paediatric intake at PCH with junior and consultant support.

Work Schedule

Participate in a 1:8 prospective rolling rota sharing with existing specialty doctors.
