It is an exciting time to join the Emergency Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital! We are pleased to announce the exciting opportunity for Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse. We are seeking experienced Emergency Department Band 7 clinical leaders to demonstrate leadership, clinical oversight and managerial growth within the Emergency Department.

The successful post holder will need to be a driven, dynamic and passionate individual who can work under pressure, delivering high standards of quality care as well as working collaboratively with colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team. Being Manchester Triage System (MTS) trained is an essential component and the ability to make clinical decisions inclusive of a wide variety of complex elements as prescribed by the role job description and person specification.

Comprehensive communication skills are required to undertake complaints, ascertain and articulate risk of overall department demand and maintain high levels of professional standards, leading by example and role modelling.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency Department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital is a busy department within a large District General Hospital. The unit consists of a 4 bedded resuscitation bay including a paediatric resus area, majors, designated paediatric unit and a minor injury area. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide a high quality service and clinical evidence based care to our patient population whilst ensuring a positive learning environment for all staff.

The successful candidate will need to have a clear vision for best practice and evidence of complex decision-making skills. Will have an abundance of leadership and organisational skills. A minimum of 2 years leadership or management experience, having led a team or nurse cohort. A caring attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Have the ability to develop, cultivate and grow relationships across professional and organisational boundaries. Evidence of experience in the implementation of transformational change.

Job responsibilities

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‐listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

Person Specification
  • Current UK NMC Registration
  • Fully trained and competent in the use of the Manchester Triage System
  • Leadership/Management qualification or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of audit tools
  • Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B1) are Desirable for this Role.
  • Broad experience of emergency care
  • Experience of change management

Salary

£50,129 to £57,365 a year, pro rata for part time.
