The Point of Care Testing (POCT) Department at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) seeks a motivated POCT Practitioner to support and maintain the Health Board's POCT service. The role reports to the POCT Coordinator and involves implementing the Health Board's POCT policy, ensuring compliance with national and local standards, and delivering training to staff across primary and secondary care sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist service users in primary and secondary care to meet national and local POCT standards.
  • Provide training, competency assessments, e‑learning, and IT/software support for POCT users.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, conduct audits, and manage stock.
  • Contribute to accreditation processes and perform Quality Control/Assurance activities.
  • Travel within the Health Board geography to support community-based services.
  • Prepare and deliver a 10‑minute PowerPoint presentation on POCT management (submission required before interview).

Qualifications

  • NHS experience and a scientific background.
  • Proficiency in operating POCT devices and overseeing their use in clinical settings.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and confidence delivering training.
  • Level 3 Welsh speaking & listening skills (equivalent to CEFR B2) are desirable but not essential.
