Join us as a Healthcare Support Worker in the Specialist Dementia Intervention Team (SDIT). At CTMUHB we are not just offering you a job but the opportunity to be at the forefront of Dementia care. In this role you will need to be innovative to adapt to the complexities of the clients' unmet needs in relation to behaviours that challenge in Dementia. You will need to have good communication, organisational and time management skills.

Main duties of the job:

  • Work within a Multidisciplinary Team under the direction of a registered nurse.
  • Deliver Health and Social care within the Care and Treatment plan.
  • Provide support to service users on an individual and on a group basis both within Community and Inpatient settings.
  • With supervision and support from Registered Nurses, be responsible for and manage own workload and safety.
  • Participate in caseload management supervision from Registered Nurses.
  • Actively participate in continuing professional development through the Knowledge Skills Framework.
  • Support individuals by role modelling psychological interventions.
  • Be part of Multi-disciplinary discussions and Formulations.
  • Feed back observations using the PAL document.

This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. Person Specification:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within the health care setting, for example, The Principles of Safeguarding Adults/Children to keep patients in their care safe and Confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Good communication skills - verbal, non-verbal and written and the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively.
  • Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in Health Care related subject or equivalent experience and can evidence work-based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant to the role which is gained through experience and work-based training/short courses.

Experience:

  • Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment providing direct patient care.
  • Experience of working with patient groups relevant to the area of practice.
  • Experience of working in the NHS.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard.
  • Ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise your own and others' workload effectively.
  • Ability to use technology to undertake the role e.g. Microsoft Office, virtual platforms e.g. TEAMS.

Other:

  • Ability to work a range of shift patterns.
