An opportunity has arisen within the acute Paediatric Wards/Children's Outpatient Department at Prince Charles Hospital .
We are looking for Registered Children's Nurses who are well motivated with good communication skill and a willingness to put the on-going care of children and their family's first.
We are looking for a passionate flexible team player to work in our friendly professional acute Paediatric Ward and Children's Outpatient Department, a person who has interest in expanding their knowledge base.
You would be joining a team of dedicated children nurses who will provide you with all the support you will need.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 16 months to cover maternity leave and sabbatical until November 2027

- Take responsibility for the ward, for a span of duty, on a shift by shift basis in the absence of the ward manager/deputy sister.
- Work as a skilled member of the team and to provide high standards of holistic care to the child and family in a variety of settings.
- Be an effective team leader and role model to new/less experienced staff and others.
- Work as a flexible member of the ward team in support of the senior members of the team.
- Assess plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in conjunction with the multi disciplinary team.
- To ensure that treatment prescribed by the medical staff is carried out, and that multi-disciplinary team members are informed of changes in the patients’ treatment and condition.
- To assist in the safety of the ward environment, actively participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues including reporting and incidents.

The Health Board currently operate a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
