We are seeking a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist for this exciting role within Haematology and Blood Transfusion at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Required Qualifications:
- HCPC Registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Experience of working within a NHS Pathology Laboratory
- Excellent communication skills
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally
The post is based at Prince Charles Hospital, with rotation to Royal Glamorgan Hospital possibly required. Applications are also welcomed from candidates who will be supported to undertake an up to 24‑month training programme under Annex 21 to obtain the IBMS Specialist Diploma and relevant work experience. During this period, remuneration will be in accordance with Annex 21 Terms and Conditions of Agenda for Change.
Job Responsibilities:
The post holder will be responsible for performing a range of assays that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease, and will be required to develop and maintain competency in specimen reception, haemology, coagulation and blood transfusion. There is a 24/7 service for Haematology and Blood Transfusion; therefore the post holder will be expected to fully participate in the out‑of‑hours rota once they have completed departmental training and competency assessment.
Other Qualifications and Preferences:
- The ideal candidate will have proven post‑registration experience within Haematology and will meet the full criteria of the Specialist BMS Band 6 Job Description and Person Specification.
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
- Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above is considered an advantage.
