Location: Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend or Princes Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil

Level: IM3 or ST4+

Eligibility: Completion of Core Medical Training or Years 1-2 of Internal Medicine training

Job Responsibilities

  • Cover wards, outpatients, speciality referrals and ward rounds
  • Stand general medical on-call duties
  • Participate in the on-call rota
  • Support and mentor junior team members (FY1, FY2, IMT, ACCS, SpR, nurse practitioners, AHPs)
  • Manage patient care, partake in decision-making and joint management plans
  • Contribute to and develop evidence-based guidelines, ensuring they are signed, dated and reviewed bi-annually or more frequently with new evidence
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, patient and family to provide appropriate care models
  • Assist in the production and review of referenced, evidence-based guidelines
  • Support the delivery of high-quality service within departmental policies and procedures

Person Specification

Experience

  • Completion of Core Medical Training, IMT training or equivalent
  • Completion of IMT1-2 or evidence of Certificate of CMT competencies
  • Substantive SpR or senior SHO experience in General Medicine in the UK

Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the NHS system in the UK
  • Experience as a middle-grade doctor in the UK

Qualifications

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • MBBS
  • Advanced Life Support Certification
