An opportunity has arisen within the acute Paediatric Wards/Children's Outpatient Department at Prince Charles Hospital. We are looking for Registered Children's Nurses who are well motivated with good communication skills and a willingness to put the ongoing care of children and their families first. We are looking for a passionate flexible team player to work in our friendly professional acute Paediatric Ward and Children's Outpatient Department, a person who has an interest in expanding their knowledge base. You would be joining a team of dedicated children's nurses who will provide you with all the support you will need.

Main duties of the job

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

The Health Board currently operates a number of different shift systems. The most common are a 12.5 hour shift, inclusive of either one 30 minute or two 30-minute unpaid breaks. These shift patterns are subject to review and the Health Board reserves the right to change working arrangements. CTM is a Health Board committed to meaningful consultation with staff and to making balanced decisions that consider all aspects of our service and workforce.

Person Specification

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

  • Registered nurse child branch with current NMC registration
  • EPLS/ PILS and IV trained

Experience

  • Clinical Experience of working within acute setting.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Undertaken audits, PADR's and quality improvements within previous roles.

Aptitude and Abilities Skills

  • Flexible approach to work
  • Shows skills working within a team but also ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Proactive approach to working and problems.
  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above.
