An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Registered Nurse to join our busy team in the Richard Johnson Day Surgery Unit for a 1 year fixed term contract/secondment opportunity. This post will involve caring for adult, child & learning disability day case patients from admission to discharge, guided by the Day Surgery operational policy plus inpatient admissions and recovery of patients following x-ray procedures.
The post holder will be required to work independently and autonomously to ensure patient care is given in a timely manner to ensure the nurse-led discharge is undertaken safely and efficiently to ensure patient flow is maintained throughout the unit. Main duties of the job
The role encompasses 2 shift patterns: 7.30 - 17.30 & 10.00 - 20.00 to meet departmental needs. It requires individuals who are hard working, motivated and keen to further their development within a supportive culture. This is a very demanding job as you may work in pre-op, first stage recovery & post-op areas throughout the working day, so the successful candidate will have to have a flexible approach to work and adaptable to keep up with this ever changing environment. The role is both physically & mentally demanding.
You will be expected to use your excellent clinical and evidenced based knowledge and skills to actively contribute to service development across the perioperative pathway, identifying opportunities and supporting individuals in the delivery of high quality patient care. Physical demands include airway management in the recovery area, moving patients on trolleys & wheelchairs plus theatre equipment from the unit to other areas within the hospital to ensure an effective and efficient service for patients. Taking and collecting patients to & from Main Theatre.
