Responsible for carrying out tasks related to the decontamination process, including the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment. These items are prepared to ensure they are safe and ready for use in patient treatment across Theatres, Wards, and other clinical departments, in compliance with established protocols and infection control standards.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
This post is fixed /secondment for 12 months to cover the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Advert: Carry out all tasks associated with the decontamination process, including:
- Cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment.
- Ensuring all items are prepared to the highest standards for use in Theatres, Wards, and other clinical departments.
- Operate and maintain decontamination equipment in accordance with departmental protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with infection control and health & safety standards.
- Accurately record and maintain documentation relating to instrument processing and traceability.
- Assist with stock control and the safe storage of sterile items.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and clinical teams to support service delivery.
Travel duties (as required): Transport sterile instruments and equipment between hospital sites or departments. Ensure safe handling and secure delivery of items in line with HB policies.
