Working as part of the Endoscopy Department team, assist in the delivery of a high standard of care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, acting in a professional manner at all times. Communicate in a polite and respectful manner. Enable patients to meet all personal needs according to preferences and clinical requirements. Respect patient comfort and dignity at all times. Assist with patient movement to ensure maximum comfort and safety. Maintain specialised endoscopic equipment, identify faults, and report to the Registered Nurse. Help keep the department area clean and tidy, participate in housekeeping, and follow guidelines for disposal of dirty linen in accordance with UHB policies.

Main duties of the job include recruiting an enthusiastic HCSW into a Band 3 role within Endoscopy. The unit offers both upper and lower GI, bronchoscopy, and a bowel screening programme. Training will be provided to develop patient care and non-patient skills related to maintenance and care of specialised endoscopes and equipment.

Person Specification

  • Education/Qualifications/Training: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent; Evidence of engagement with personal and professional development.
  • Experience: Working as part of a team and on own initiative; Experience with audit processes including understanding GRS and JAG; Prioritising according to list demands; Previous experience with endoscopes.
  • Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent customer care; Analytical skills and accurate data input; Good IT and keyboard skills; Welsh language skills (speaking/listening at Level 3 or above); IV cannulation and venepuncture.
