Main duties of the job:
- Provide clinical expertise across board area of community paediatrics.
- Participate in the development of the service model, supporting colleagues in the establishment of a Multi-Disciplinary Service including Pathway Development.
- Provide liaison work at all levels with other health staff and community agencies working with children, adolescents and their families.
- Provide clinical care located where necessary - for instance clinics based in Special Schools and other community locations.
- Work closely with colleagues in Education, Local Authority and third sector in the delivery of services for children and young people with complex disorders.
- Work within the team to ensure robust outcome measures.
- Work closely with all agencies involved in child care and observe the local safeguarding procedures.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Full GMC registration & Licence to practice.
- On the GMS Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.
- Higher Degree, e.g., MSc, MD, PhD in Paediatrics.
Experience:
- Is able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training.
- At least 2 years General Professional Training in Paediatrics.
- Achieved competencies in level 3 child protection training.
Knowledge:
- Effective leadership; ability to take responsibility and demonstrate leadership when appropriate.
- Understands and can apply the principles of Prudent Healthcare ("Caring for each other").
- Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with patients, colleagues, relatives and staff; communicate openly and honestly and explain clearly ("Caring for each other").
- Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff.
- Demonstrates learning in Improvement science and methodology, ability and drive to use information and experience to improve the service ("Always Improving").
Personal Attributes:
- Flexible and adaptable to competing demands with the ability to work effectively under pressure and cope with setbacks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, colleagues, managers, other agencies, and staff at all levels.
