Housekeeper

The roles will support the Facilities (Hotel Services) team in delivering Housekeeping and Catering services to the National Standards for these services in NHS Wales, HIW standard 5 and 9 and Organisational Standards. To assist in developing, maintaining and promoting the highest standards of service delivery and team working practices; and helping to maintain open, effective communication.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This does not mean essential; while the candidate does not need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Main duties of the job

  • Maintaining a high standard of environmental cleanliness
  • Carrying out housekeeping, cleaning and service‑associated semi‑skilled duties, e.g. curtain changes, removal and cleaning of fixtures and fittings, linen
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
  • Providing a Patient/Customer service
  • The post holder is required to attend all relevant staff meetings and training sessions as required by the Housekeeping Manager/supervisors to maintain personal competency and comply with Health Board or legislative requirements, in accordance with housekeeping policy and procedures, occupational health and health and safety procedures

Experience

  • Previous experience of cleaning duties, experience of working with people
  • Previous experience of working within a hospital environment

Aptitude and Abilities

  • Good communication skills. Able to work as part of a team
  • Skilled in the use of a variety of equipment used in cleaning services
  • Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are desirable for this role
