We invite you to join an integrated multidisciplinary team that provides innovative and solution-focused patient care. This exciting opportunity is for band 5 Staff Nurses to join our forward-thinking team on Ward A1, a 27‑bed medical ward at Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Community Hospital. The ward supports patients’ rehabilitation needs and complex discharge planning, providing a safe environment for rehabilitation assessments and focused therapy to support independent living. You will be committed to ongoing training and development. Full and part-time posts are available.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of a group of patients, occasionally taking charge of the ward and its resources during duty.
- Maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Supporting and supervising less experienced staff.
- Keeping accurate, current, comprehensive and concise records in accordance with NMC Standards and the UHB's Patient Record Policy.
- Liaising with Clinical Specialists—Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Nurse Specialists—regarding individual patient requirements and care plans.
- Working effectively as part of a large multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and delivering high standards of patient care in a busy environment.
Qualifications:
- Live UK NMC registration.
- Previous experience working in a ward environment.
- Experience taking charge of a ward or department.
- Welsh language speaking and listening at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above is desirable.
Job Details:
Shift patterns typically include 12.5‑hour shifts with either one 30‑minute or two 30‑minute unpaid breaks. Shift arrangements are subject to review.
