We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Intensivist to support our Critical Care provision at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Applications from Consultants with a speciality interest will also be welcome. The successful candidates will be expected to support the Critical Care Service across all of Cwm Taf Morgannwg. However, the vacancy base location will be Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job:
- Provision of Critical Care to in-patients in the Acute General Hospitals
- Review of patients in the Emergency Department, wards and theatre settings
- Supervision of Doctors in Training, Speciality and Specialist Doctors
- Medical support for Critical Care Outreach Team
- Provision of out-patient follow-up and bereavement clinics

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- Must be on the specialist register, be within 6 months of attaining CCT in Intensive Care Medicine or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register within 6 months at the time of interview
- Postgraduate Qualification in Intensive Care Medicine
- Advanced Life Support and/or Advanced Trauma Life Support Provider
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience of out of hours / hospital at night
- Extensive experience in Intensive Care Medicine (+allied specialty)
- Experience of working in the NHS or equivalent healthcare system
- Experience in audit and/or quality improvement
- Experience of teaching undergraduates / postgraduates
- Experience of working at Consultant level in Intensive Care Medicine
- Experience of Clinical Research
- Formal qualification in teaching / education
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Able to communicate well in English with team members, patients and families
- Welsh language speaker or learner
- Qualification in bedside echocardiography / ultrasound
