An opportunity has arisen for a successful candidate to join our Glanrhyd & Community Facilities Department. The post is Caretaker working 14.5 hours per week over 5 days Monday to Friday. Post to cover North Cornelly clinic Greenfield Terrace North Cornelly CF33 4LY. Candidates must be flexible and able to travel to clinic.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining high cleaning standards in community clinics and hospitals across the Health Board in line with National Standards of Cleanliness for NHS Wales and support Infection prevention and control.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn’t need to have skills in Welsh, we’ll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
Main duties of the job:
- To undertake all cleaning and caretaking duties in accordance with the cleaning schedule for the building.
- To undertake cleaning duties in the Community clinics as indicated on the cleaning schedule.
- To complete daily and weekly cleaning of all areas in accordance with departmental schedules and specification, using appropriate equipment, chemicals and work methods.
- Tasks to include damp dusting, vacuuming, floor maintenance, high dusting, cleaning sanitary areas, spot cleaning internal glass as required, always adhering to the safe systems of work. This could involve cleaning in unpleasant areas i.e. public toilets.
- To co-ordinate and adhere to the cleaning programme within the building.

Person Specification:
- Experience: Experience of undertaking cleaning duties, preferably in a hospital/clinic environment. Experience of working and dealing with the general public.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning equipment, machinery & materials. Knowledge of COSHH.
- Welsh Language: Speaking/Listening Skills at Level 3 or above.
