Are you an experienced People/HR professional looking for a role where you can influence strategic decision-making, shape workforce transformation and make a real difference to staff and patient care?
The Deputy Head of People is a strategic HR Business Partnering role, supporting the Head of People in driving the People agenda across one or more Care Groups within the Health Board. You will work closely with Care Group Directors and senior leadership teams providing expert workforce, organisational development and employee relations advice across a broad and complex portfolio. Care Groups range in size, between circa 1000-3000 people.
Working within a complex organisation employing around 13,500 staff across over 200 professions, with multiple sets of terms and conditions and recognised Trade Union partners, the postholder will provide expert people advice and leadership across a broad range of workforce matters. The role requires significant experience of HR Business Partnering at a senior level within a large, complex organisation, with the ability to influence stakeholders, support organisational change, and deputise for the Head of People as required.

As Deputy Head of People, you will support the Head of People in leading the delivery of strategic people support across a range of services, helping leaders achieve their workforce objectives while ensuring staff have a positive experience at work.
You will:
- Business Partnering with senior leaders to develop and implement workforce and organisational development plans.
- Provide expert advice on workforce planning, organisational change, employee relations, talent management and service transformation.
- Lead on complex and high-profile workforce issues, supporting managers to find effective, fair and pragmatic solutions.
- Facilitate organisational development interventions, leadership development and team improvement activities.
- Support the delivery of workforce redesign programmes that improve services, productivity and patient care.
- Build strong relationships with Trade Union representatives and key stakeholders across the organisation.
- Contribute to Health Board-wide people initiatives and projects, working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider People Directorate.
- Coach, support and develop managers to build confidence and capability in people management
- Deputise for the Head of People as required and represent the directorate at senior meetings and forums.
This role also offers the opportunity to deputise for the Head of People, providing visibility at a senior level and supporting key decision-making forums when required.
