Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking leader to take on the role of Assistant Director for the Clinical Learning Academy. This senior post is critical in shaping and transforming the delivery of clinical education across the organisation. By leading strategically and operationally, you will oversee the development, delivery and evaluation of high-quality education and training for nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals and the wider workforce. You will ensure educational provision aligns with Health Board priorities, national policy and regulatory requirements, driving excellence, innovation and value for money.
Working collaboratively with executive colleagues, care groups, universities and external partners, you will develop modern, multi-professional learning approaches, embedding digital innovation and supporting new and evolving workforce roles. You will also provide expert advice to senior leaders on workforce development, professional practice and education commissioning. The post requires a credible and visible leader with substantial senior-level experience in healthcare education. You will bring strong influencing skills and a proven ability to lead large-scale change within complex environments, driving improvements in workforce capability and delivering better outcomes for patients and communities.
Main duties of the job
- The role is key in leading the transformation of the way clinical education is delivered in CTMUHB and working in collaboration with our university partners, to integrate inter-professional learning, clinical leadership and digital skills for healthcare professionals and Welsh language into our education offer throughout the whole career pathway.
- Develop and deliver the Clinical Learning Academy's strategic vision, ensuring alignment with Health Board, NHS Wales and national workforce priorities.
- Lead the work in partnership with Professional and Care Group Directors to ensure healthcare professional education planning implementation and evaluation of education delivery activity is effective.
- Lead on strategic direction, governance and delivery of Clinical Education for all registered healthcare professionals and healthcare support workers across CTMUHB.
- Lead the development and implementation of multi-year business plans, annual operational plans and performance frameworks for the Academy.
- Work closely with the Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery & Patient Care, Executive Director of Therapies & Healthcare Science and the Medical Director and their teams on planned changes to healthcare.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
- Educated to Master’s Degree level or equivalent experience in healthcare or healthcare education.
