The post-holder will join the friendly and enthusiastic clinical team based at the Prince Charles Hospital (PCH) as a middle grade doctor covering general paediatrics and a neonatal unit (admits babies above 32 weeks gestational age). The post holder participates in 1:9 rota. These posts include opportunities to undertake further postgraduate qualifications including a postgraduate certificate in medical education, Cardiff University; MSC/Fellowships in paediatric specialties. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. We have 2 vacancies for up to 6 months and 1 vacancy for up to 12 months due to departmental changes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducting daily ward rounds in the Children's Ward, Neonatal Unit and reporting to the consultant in charge.
  • Supervision of the junior medical team and acting as a source of advice and support to the nursing staff.
  • Seeing patients in the Emergency Department when required based on clinical and team situations.
  • Carrying out safeguarding medical examinations when adequately trained.
  • Attending specialist clinics as per area of interest.
  • Seeing new and follow-up General Paediatric patients in the clinics under supervision of the consultant.
  • Participating in clinical/medical audit, teaching and research within the children's service.
  • Managing acute paediatric assessments working alongside the clinical team with consultant support.
