Job Summary

The Senior Learning & Development Advisor plays a key role in designing, delivering and evaluating learning initiatives across the organisation. The role will also be responsible for major learning & development projects as instructed by the Associate Director – Learning & Skills. Line manage L&D Advisor, supporting their development, building capability, and ensuring effective delivery of learning and development activities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver and continuously improve learning and development solutions for a wide range of audiences, using classroom, virtual, digital and blended methods to meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Partner with business leads and the People team to identify capability needs, diagnose skills gaps and recommend effective learning and development solutions aligned to business priorities.
  • Support managers to ensure employees are competent in their roles and identify and address skills gaps, particularly for employees impacted by regulatory requirements such as the Building Safety Act.
  • Manage the organisation’s leadership and management development programmes, building manager capability in partnership with the People team.
  • Responsible for end-to-end learning and development projects, including needs analysis, solution design, communication, delivery and evaluation.
  • Responsible for the annual mandatory and compliance training plan.
  • Amend and revise programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to any internal or external changes.
  • Manage the Learning Management System (Workday) and other learning technologies, including uploading and managing content, identify new e-learning modules and design in-house modules and provide reports to ensure staff are completing online learning.
  • Leverage digital tools and AI to improve learning design, content development, learner support, reporting operational efficiency, while ensuring appropriate human oversight, quality assurance, data privacy and compliance with company policy.
  • Use learning data, feedback and performance information to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning activity, identify trends and risks, and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of learning procedures, standards and quality assurance processes to ensure an effective, efficient and well-governed learning function.
  • Support the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of performance review and career development processes, including initiatives that strengthen career pathways and professional development.
  • Manage and maintain CWG’s Career Development Framework, ensuring it remains up-to-date and aligned with career progression pathways across the organisation.
  • Support the onboarding and induction process for all new hires, ensuring consistent, engaging and compliant experience across the organisation in collaboration with the People team.
  • Utilise the Apprenticeship Levy; identify apprenticeships covered under the levy, organise review meetings and maintain records.
  • General and ad hoc organisational duties and projects as directed by the Associate Director – Learning & Skills required to ensure the effective delivery of training within CWG.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Must have proven Learning and Development experience, with a focus on management and delivery of L&D projects.
  • The successful candidate will ideally be CIPD qualified or have a relevant vocational qualification.
  • Flexible, organised and calm approach to work is essential.
  • Must have effective planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate at all levels is essential.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills combined with a requirement to ensure confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Experience of managing and implementing creative and innovative projects is desirable.
  • Must be a team player with a willingness to help others.
  • Familiar with LMS and e-learning platforms is essential.
