Job Summary
Responsible for assisting in all aspects of the financial management of a construction project. Annual Salary - circa £70,000 - £75,000 dependent on experience. Closing Date - Sunday 31 May.
Main Responsibilities
- Discharge responsibilities for Health and Safety as set out in the Canary Wharf Group Health Safety and Welfare manual and the Canary Wharf Group Construction Health and Safety Plan.
- Manage specific elements of work allocated by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive.
- Development of approved tender lists.
- Preparation of tender documentation.
- Commercial evaluation of tenders including meetings, supplemental bid documentation, and recommendation report.
- Preparation of contract documentation for execution.
- Review trade contract and consultant submittals from a commercial perspective, report and respond, including requests for information, as necessary.
- Liaise with contractors and/or Client representatives to ensure instructions raised/acted upon, costs received, agreed and change orders issued on a regular basis.
- Ensure accounts are kept up to date throughout the various contract durations.
- Inspection of trade contract works for quality and completion from a commercial perspective, and advice and/or resolve, as necessary.
- Prepare interim valuations for progress payment.
- Negotiate and prepare final accounts.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
- Prepare relevant elements of the cost statement.
- Preparation of Insurance claim documentation.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested and assigned by the Senior Cost Manager/Commercial Executive/Associate Director Commercial.
Person Specification
- Quantity Surveying practical work experience, ideally on large commercial office/residential/retail projects, is highly desirable.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
- The individual should possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong negotiation skills are essential.
- Computer Literacy is an essential requirement of this role.
- It is essential that the incumbent is able to maintain excellent working relationships with the rest of a diverse project team and all levels of the organisation, on a one-to-one and group basis.
