Job Summary: To be responsible to the Cost Manager for assistance with cost control tasks and activities relating to Project packages.

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 dependant on experience

Closing Date: Sunday 07 June

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monitoring the evolution of project design including revision of cost plans and preparation of cost estimates
  • Assist in the development of tender lists
  • Support in the preparation and compilation of tender documentation
  • Support in evaluation of tenders
  • Assist with preparation of contract documentation for execution
  • Assist with change administration including site instructions, tenant modifications, change orders, etc.
  • Assist with the preparation of interim valuations for progress payment
  • Assist in negotiation of final accounts
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring
  • Assist in the preparation and agreement of insurance claims in conjunction with insurance department
  • Assist with the analysis of final accounts for cost database purposes
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Cost Manager

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • A Degree in Quantity Surveying, or working towards, is essential with an ambition to pursue a career in this field and a commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and organisation skills are essential.
  • Intermediate IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Word, Excel, Power Point; good numeracy skills.
  • Desire to develop negotiation skills and apply these to their dealings with owners, developers and trade contractors.
  • The possession of a positive and helpful attitude is essential as is a strong customer service orientation.
  • It is essential that the incumbent is able to maintain excellent working relationships with the rest of a diverse project team and all levels of the organisation, on a one to one and group basis.
