Sizewell C's business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards' principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.

Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway. Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C's ambition.

Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure. Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK's largest and most important energy projects. We are now recruiting for the following position.

Location: London, Bristol, Suffolk or Manchester, hybrid basis with travel required. Expectation: for regular travel to London office (once per week) and Site office in Suffolk (every 4-6 weeks). Contract: Permanent, full-time. Closing Date: Friday 3rd July 2026.

Your Impact

The purpose of the role is to support the Strategic Sourcing team implement category management approaches across Sizewell C (SZC) Site Delivery and the wider project. The role will be responsible for providing support and assistance to the team to develop category strategies and deliver sourcing requirements.

The Assistant Strategic Sourcing Manager will support proactive engagement with multi-disciplinary teams e.g. Project Managers, Finance, Legal and Project Controls to procure the requirements in accordance with Sizewell C's Acquire Goods and Services (AGS) processes and procedures. Procurements values will range up to and may exceed £100m, therefore it is essential the Assistant Strategic Sourcing Manager is commercially astute and able to engage closely with all stakeholders to ensure the best value solution for the project.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions

  • Assist with development of category strategies based on value and complexity, and which align to organisational priorities, market conditions and business needs.
  • Support with the end-to-end procurement process, from Expression of Interest, Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, Invitation to Tender through to contract award, to deliver the category strategy outcomes with a particular focus on procurement delivery.
  • Use of e-procurement platforms to manage all aspects of the end-to-end procurement process and ensure all associated records are maintained to a high standard.
  • Assist with identifying cost reduction targets against addressable spend and ways to increase productivity/performance, innovation and efficiencies.
  • Assisting the team with identifying and delivering savings / efficiencies both in terms of cost and productivity.
  • Play a part in contributing towards carbon reduction initiatives linked to opportunities highlighted in category strategies.
  • Support the team with identifying ways to increase the use of social value and social enterprises where possible.
  • Help to ensure the end-to-end procurement process adheres to the AGS and Signature of Contract (SOC) deadlines.
  • Input into and undertake supply market analysis, investigating supply chain capability to highlight emerging innovations and improvement opportunities to assist with the development of category strategies.
  • Carry out data collection and data analysis work in support of the role holder's responsibilities including but not limited to supply market analysis, PQQ / ITT evaluation, Tender Event Schedule pipeline development.
  • Support the Strategic Sourcing team with working in cross functional teams, engaging with colleagues in functions such as finance, legal, operations, technical, supply chain to assist in the development and delivery of procurement strategies and sourcing outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of strategic Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and supplier development to drive supplier performance improvement throughout the project.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • A basic understanding of supply chain requirements within a regulated environment.

  • Regulated industries including Public Sector, Rail, Construction or Nuclear experience.
  • Basic familiarity with most common forms of contract within the power construction industry and major projects (NEC & FIDIC).

Qualifications & Experience

Working towards MCIPS accreditation or similar.
