Quality Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C.
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
- Attend pre-start meetings for significant projects (either in terms of value, complexity or QA/QC requirements).
- Support project teams in developing the quality plans / inspection & test plans are being followed and that customer/project requirements are being met, and review those from the supply chain.
- Assist delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, managing issues as required, and providing Quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate.
- Use existing systems to allow sample and benchmark plans to be established and agreed with customers and supply chain.
- Use digital systems to monitor the performance of quality planning / production of quality deliverables / managing of issues against targets.
- Support project team in collating and delivering handover records as per customer’s requirements, on time.
- Work to the processes and procedures of the Business Management System.
- Support the Quality team during internal and external audits.
- Support the implementation of either project or business stream quality strategies, plans and actions across the scope of services and full project lifecycle.
- Assist in training, coaching and developing quality skills, including sharing lessons learned.
- Support the establishment of a continual improvement culture.
- Support the undertaking of specific investigations and/or reporting on quality related issues as required.
- Support the use of appropriate digital toolset to support the project governance and quality assurance/measures on the project, including training of those tools.
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and Right First Time.
- Intervene when the Quality of works is at risk or has been affected, escalate to Senior Management as appropriate.
- Reports to the Quality Manager and provides regular updates and feedback regarding quality related issues.
What are we looking for?
- Prior Quality experience and/or relevant operational/technical experience to meet industry sector demands.
- Knowledge of ISO9000 Terminology.
- An understanding and commitment to Quality Management.
- Awareness of business improvement initiatives.
- Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts.
- Work to plans and programmes.
- Pays attention to detail and sees things through to completion.
- Good at building relationships and can influence effectively.
- Can deliver reports orally and written in an objective manner.
- Ability to challenge existing methods and ways of thinking.
- Able to work within a multi-discipline team.
- Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365.
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained.
- Awareness of sector specific certifications and their requirements.
- Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems / Electronic Forms.
- Operational experience in construction or asset management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level 4+ Qualification in Quality, Construction or Manufacturing (relevant industry) or PCQI.
- Either a CQI Practitioner or working towards Practitioner status.
