From site set-up of compounds, segment yards and auxiliary areas, to managing earthworks and the construction of TBM launch shafts, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the foundations of this landmark scheme. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineering, planning and commercial teams during the transition from pre-delivery into full construction, contributing to procurement strategy, risk management and programme control. Early stages will involve regular travel to our London office before full transition to Suffolk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the execution of surface civil works, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and performance
- Managing excavation and construction of TBM launch shafts and associated assets
- Overseeing subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Monitoring programme, budgets and risk, implementing corrective actions where required
- Driving compliance with UK HSE legislation and quality systems
- Supporting stakeholder engagement with regulators, local authorities and client teams
- Proactive engagement with the Surface manager for the development of the procurement strategy and procurement packages needed for the execution of works on site
- Monitor, track, and report progress against project programme and budgets, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions as required
- Deputising for the Surface Project Manager when required
What are we looking for?
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience in construction site set-up, including civil and earthworks
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering methods, excavation, concrete, and TBM shaft construction
- Proven team management experience; able to lead, motivate, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors
- Sound understanding of project budgeting, cost control, planning, and programme management
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with experience in stakeholder management
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK HSE legislation, site safety, and quality systems
- Ability to work collaboratively and proactively within a multidisciplinary alliance structure
Desirable:
- Proven track record in delivery of large-scale civil works projects, ideally including major infrastructure, heavy earthworks, or tunnelling enabling works
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. master’s in construction management or project management; SMSTS or equivalent certifications)
