As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Enabling and Earthwork Section.
What will you do?
The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a Deputy Engineering Manager, supporting the Engineering Manager, to manage and coordinate construction engineering for the Enabling Works and Earthworks portions during the delivery phase. The role is site based to ensure Engineering Delivery Excellence through adoption of engineering processes, procedures and best practice. The scope of the Earthworks and Enabling works forms the initial portion of the Civil Works Programme for the SZC project and includes the construction of significant civil engineering elements critical to the construction and operation of SZC. These include access bridges, sea defence, retaining structures, environmental barriers, TBM Launch Shafts and marine delivery structures.
The Deputy Engineering Manager will manage right first-time delivery of engineering activities, coordinating across the disciplines of Methods, Temporary/Permanent Works, Digital Engineering, Quality, Materials and Survey. The Deputy Engineering Manager will assist with establishing the organisation and resource structure with the skills and experience to deliver the project technical requirements for a section of these works.
Successful management will involve working alongside technical leads for pre-construction and engineering disciplines, client and stakeholders to manage complex technical interfaces. The complexity of the works will require that the Engineering Manager is able to work in collaboration with support functions including procurement, commercial, information management, digital engineering and project controls to ensure that robust project management principles are in place to support efficient delivery.
The Deputy Engineering Manager will assist in establishing and managing a delivery strategy in accordance with the procedures set out by the industry, the Civil Works alliance and Sizewell C.
